Meet the Artists: At the Dock Museum - J Lee Payne and Ron Caunt

If you want to meet local Artists J Lee Payne and talk to him about his artwork put a date in your diary for this Saturday. You won't be disappointed. Lee is passionate about his work which includes climbing mountains to get stunning sunsets in all weathers. He is Artists in Resident at the Dock Museum between 11am and 3pm with Ron Caunt from the Society's Committee.

Lee Payne is a professional Artist who brings dramatic scenes of the Lake District and Furness Peninsular to life. He is a well-known local painter who lives and works in his hometown of Barrow.

He uses oils as his preferred medium, he specializes in creating realistic, highly detailed pictures with an emphasis on capturing the light and atmosphere of the Cumbrian Landscape.

He also displays his work as prints in many outlets in the Lake District and in Barrow’s Home Images.

Its a rare opportunity to meet this artists and discuss his work. The perfect chance to view his original Art which is presented at the Dock Museum in this years Exhibition by Barrow Society of Artists.

Ron Caunt is a cherished member of the society who was Chair until last year, he has now stepped back from being Chair but is still a member of the Committee. Ron is now advisor to the current Chair backed by his wife Judith our Treasurer. Over the years Ron has dedicated his personal time to ensure Barrow Society of Artists survived and flourished.

He writes ‘I am very much a picture maker;’ he has been painting pubs for years and enjoys their hospitality.

This years Exhibition by Barrow Society of Artists at the Dock Museum has produced some fantastic Paintings and Sculptures. Many of the places represented in the paintings and sculptures you will recognise and connect with because they have been created by Local Artists. Don't miss it!
